School Council
February 6, 2025
Present: Judy Corbet, Laura Desroches, Jacquiline Sunday, Naomi Murry
 Amanda Crosby, Laura Croteau, Roze Pottage, Carol Carpenter, Rhonda Cail
Erica LaBrie informed that she would be running late to the meeting.
Minutes from the November 4th meeting were approved.
Principal Update:
• New jerseys for sports teams have arrived and are being used by the various teams.
Students and staff really like how they look and the material that they are made out of.
• We have numerous clubs and teams that are up and running this term. Girls Volleyball, Boys
Basketball, math club, board games club, lego club, knitting club, science club, cross
country skiing club,
• Grad Photos will be later this month – June 19th
.
• We will be having a Pink/Red day on February 14th
.
• We are selling valentines candies February 10-14th for 50 cents each.
• On February 13th we are having a Winter Carnival. Gr 1-7 will be on teams with Gr 8s as
instructors. There will be 2 indoor stations, one as a warming station and the other will be
for serving hot chocolate. Kindergarten will have there own day on February 20th
.
• Report Cards go home on February 14th
.
• STEAM Night – February 19th 5:30-7:00pm in the gym. Council was asked if the Parent
Engagement grant of $500 could be used that evening towards the purchase of pizza for the
families. This was approved. Water and juice boxes will be provided by the school. We will
have door prizes plus selling popcorn.
• The Santa Claus Parade was a great success! Huron Park got the ‘President’s Choice’
trophy. We definitely will be participating next year.
• Lip Sync that was held in December was a success. The students really enjoyed seeing the
staff participate. This will continue next year.
• Carol singing was held the last week before the winter holidays.
• We had a ‘surprise’ hot chocolate day for all the student that was so appreciated, more
surprise days will be coming.
• Craft Night was held in the gym. Families rotated and made crafts with their children. Bags
were purchased to hold their craft. Turnout was very good with comments from parents that
they preferred it in the gym. Hot chocolate and door prizes were held in a separate room. We
will be doing this again next year.
• We have bee having ‘fun’ announcements in the morning – name that song, name that
noise, bingo, - classes bring their guesses down and then a winner is drawn with the class
getting a prize.
• Our Kelseys night raised $870, Harveys day raised $765, our Poinsettia’s raised $1044.83,
Fundscript has $301.74 in an account.
• On May 28th we will be having a Spring Concert, more details to follow.
New Business:
• The end of year BBQ is going to be too expensive to have this year so we will change to a
Family Movie Night.
• In regards to St’ Theresa’s Music Review it is Board policy that we support out ‘Family of
Schools’ for music/drama presentations and sports events.
