September Newsletter
Principal’s Message
Welcome to the 2025-2026 school year. We would especially like to welcome all the new families to the Huron Park School Community. We are very excited to have everyone back for another year of learning. The teachers have been busy setting up welcoming classrooms for all of our students. A huge thank you to all of our custodians for all the hard work over the summer to make our school look incredible.
As always at this time of year, we must let you know that our classrooms are never set in stone until our final numbers come in. If we are told that we need to reorganize, families will be notified with the news. We know that reorganization is always a hard day for some of our students but we have an incredible staff who will help all of our students through it.
At this time however, our classes are set and we will not be able to move students around due to our current numbers. Please keep in mind that we spend a great deal of time placing students in classrooms that we believe are the best for them.
Attendance
Consistent daily attendance is a must and we cannot stress enough how important it is for all of our students to attend school on a daily basis. It is also very important for all of our students to be at school for the 9:15 start. Language and Math are taught first thing in the mornings and we want our students to be a part of these lessons.
School Council
Our first School Council meeting will be September 29. The meeting begins at 5:30 and will be held in the library
September 8 - 12 Back to School Bingo
Listen carefully to announcements each morning so that you do not miss the back school trivia words of the day. When you hear the words mark them off on your Bingo card. There will be prizes!
September 15-19 Huron Park Trivia
How much do you know about Huron Park? Can you work together with your classmates and teacher to discover more about Huron Park? Listen carefully to the Huron Park trivia questions and submit your class answers to the office. Correct answers will be announced the next morning and there will be prizes!
Pop Up Popsicle Day
Be on the lookout for The Huron Park Pop Up Popsicle Day one day in September!
Free Entry in the Mornings
We will continue with our free entry in the mornings at Huron Park. Students are to enter the building between 9:00-9:15 each morning so they can get ready for class to begin at 9:15.
Meet the Teacher Night
We would like to invite you to Meet the Teacher Night on September, 25 from 5:00-6:30. Please come and visit your child’s classroom and see where they are spending their day.
Boys Volleyball
If any Grade 7 & 8 boys are interested in improving their volleyball skills, Intermediate Boys Volleyball tryouts will take place at the end of September. Listen for an announcement from Mme Stacy & Mr. Reynolds for dates!
Yearbook Club
Grade 8 students interested in participating in the Yearbook club, this will begin at the end of September. We need students to take photos and help plan the yearbook for the 2025/2026 school year! Listen for announcements from Mme Stacy for more details!
Terry Fox Run
Our school Terry Fox Run will be held on Thursday, September 25. This year is the 45th anniversary of the Terry's Marathon of Hope. As a school, we are hoping to raise $1000. Families can donate online using our school's fundraising page: https://schools.terryfox.ca/103619.
Truth and Reconciliation Day
Each year, September 30 marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation which recognizes the tragic legacy of residential schools, the missing Indigenous children, the families left behind and the survivors of these institutions. This day corresponds with Orange shirt day. The orange shirt has become a symbol of hope, reconciliation and a commitment to a better future. By wearing an orange shirt on September 30th we show our support for reconciliation and a commitment to the enduring truth that EVERY CHILD MATTERS. This year students here at Huron Park will be participating in activities to learn more about this. To show our support we would like all students to wear orange on September 30th.
